PHILLIP Island has romped to a big win over Inverloch, after a bowling masterclass by quick Simon Kirton in A Grade Division 1 at Cowes.
Kirton removed openers Walter Taberner and Brett Debono to have the Stingrays reeling at 2/14, on his way to 6/22 off 12.3 overs including five maidens.
The Stingrays had no answer to the tight bowling by the Sharks, bowled out for 66 in the 47th over.
Charith Keerthisinghe was a handy sidekick with 3/33 off 23 overs including 12 maidens.
Inverloch was sent into bat again, finishing at 2/30 off 13 overs, with Kirton picking up another wicket to finish with match figures of 7/37 off 18.3 overs.
A six wicket haul by Wonthaggi Club captain James Sheerin led his side to an easy win against Nerrena at Butch West Oval.
The spinner snared consistent wickets throughout the innings and finished with 6/23 off 12.5 overs including four maidens, while quick Jakeb Thomas nabbed 3/25 off 14 overs including four maidens, as the Red Caps were bowled out for 100 in the 44th over.
Damien Symmons top scored with 30.
The Red Caps batted again and reached 1/49 off 27 overs.
OMK easily accounted for Leongatha Town at Scorpion Park after posting 305 last week.
Jamie Dewell was the destroyer for the Diggers with 5/25 off 10 overs including four maidens and Sam Jenkins chipped in with 3/16 off 6.1 overs.
The Scorpions were bowled out for 158 in the 49th over, with Steve Fixter top scoring with 43.
Town was sent in to bat again and reached 3/88 off 37 overs, with Jack Hume hitting eight fours and a six in his 42.
Korumburra successfully defended last week’s score of 309, bowling out Kilcunda-Bass for 181 in the 61st over.
Dale Wyhoon led the way with 4/35 off 11.2 overs and Ilan Osman took 3/29 off eight overs.
John Bastwrous batted well for the Sharks with 66 including 10 fours and a six, while Ash Larcombe hit 43 including six fours.

Bardwell ton lifts Poowong-Loch

A CENTURY from Jacob Bardwell has helped Poowong-Loch chase down Wonthaggi Miners’ 222 in A Grade Division 2 at Loch.
Bardwell hit 13 fours before he was run out for 111, and combined with Colin Knox (64 including seven fours) for a second-wicket partnership of 176.
The home side finished with 287 off 75 overs.
Joel Piasente was the pick of the Miners bowlers with 3/44 off 12 overs and Blake Andrighetto picked up 3/21 off 8.2 overs.
Imperials batsman Mark Lafferty belted Foster to all parts of the Foster Golf Club oval with an unbeaten century in the Imperials’ big win.
Lafferty joined Tim Sauvarin at the crease at 5/205 after Ryan Higgins hit 53 including six fours and Luke Rogers hit 59 including five fours and five sixes.
The pair passed Foster’s total of 218 with ease, before Lafferty hit 10 fours and five sixes to remain 101 not out.
The pair shared a 110-run partnership, with Sauvarin hitting 40 including four fours and a six.
Imperials finished with 7/389 off 79 overs.
Koonwarra-Leongatha RSL held on in a thriller against Glen Alvie at Leongatha Turf.
Defending 225, the Cougars looked on track for a win with Glen Alvie at 5/102.
But a 104-run partnership between Alex Hamilton (50) and Daniel Hales (60 including seven fours and a six) gave the visitors a chance.
The pair’s departure in quick succession spelled the end, as Glen Alvie was bowled out for 218.
