A CENTURY from OMK’s Tom Wyatt has put the Diggers in a strong position after day one against Leongatha Town in A Grade Division One at Scorpion Park.
The Diggers posted a monstrous total of 8/305 off 75 overs, with Jesse Van Rooye setting it up with 88.
Wyatt joined him and then powered on, with the number five hitting 107 before he was caught off the bowling of Matt Borschman.
Borschman toiled hard for the Scorpions, picking up 3/71 off 18 overs on a tough day for bowlers. The pitch was good and the outfield fast.
Wonthaggi Club’s Mitch Thomas just missed out on a century and had to be content with 96 not out against Nerrena at Butch West Oval.
Openers Dave Britt (64) and Sam Huitema (40) set the tone early with a 103-run partnership, before Thomas and Koby Brann (42 not out) pushed the score to 3/256 at the end of 75 overs.
Damien Symmons was the only Red Cap bowler to have any luck, picking up 3/25 off 11 overs.
Korumburra has batted itself into a winning position against Kilcunda-Bass at Korumburra Turf.
The visitors started well to have the Cobras 2/37, with dangerous batsmen Michael Giles and Shane Dole back in the shed, both removed by Jacob Dakin in quick succession.
But Ilan Osman and Kallon Rigby stepped up for the home side with a 65-run partnership to kickstart the innings.
Osman departed for 49 and Rigby continued to plunder the bowlers, before he was eventually caught behind for 69.
Luke Zanchetta (53) and Daniel Salmon (52 not out) further boosted the total to 7/209 off 75 overs.
Phillip Island posted a defendable 9/190 against Inverloch at Cowes.
The Sharks started well with Brodie Johnston and skipper Lochie Cleeland taking the score to 60.
Dave Newman was introduced to the attack with great success, trapping Johnston LBW for 12 and removing Cleeland caught and bowled for 42 shortly after.
A solid 30 by Mitch Kinghorn kept the scoreboard ticking over, but the Stingray bowlers kept the total under wraps.
Inverloch shared the wickets around, with Newman finishing with 3/24 off nine overs including three maidens.

He continued to rip through the batting attack and cleaned up the tail, finishing with 7/42 off 18.5 overs including six maidens.
His seven wickets included three bowled, three caught and an lbw.
Imperials batted for a nervy five overs to end the day, with Gary Sauvarin and Andrew Meyer surviving and the visitors will resume at 0/2.
Four wickets by Poowong-Loch quick Al Jenkins kept Wonthaggi Miners to a score of 222 at Loch.
Jenkins nabbed 4/61 off 22 overs including six maidens.
For the Miners, Josh Andrighetto belted eight fours in his 51, and Adam Honeysett made a valuable 48 through the middle order.
An 85-run partnership for the third wicket between Koonwarra-Leongatha RSL’s Ben Davison and Jack Hale helped the Cougars reach 9/225 against Glen Alvie at Leongatha Turf.
