WITH less than two weeks until the final Relay For Life in Fish Creek, teams have been busy fundraising and getting organised, preparing to keep a team member walking at all times for the duration of the relay.
The relay will get underway at Terrill Park with the Opening Ceremony at 3pm on Saturday, March 18.
Survivors and Carers will complete a lap of honour before all walkers join them to get the Relay happening.
Once the relayers are on the track, the entertainment and activities will commence at 3.30pm, followed up with the Candlelight Ceremony at 8pm.
The placement of candle bags around the walking track is a very moving tribute to those who have fought or are still fighting cancer.
A mini fair will operate from 2 to 6pm where teams will sell a variety of food as well as other activities that visitors and walkers can enjoy.
The mechanical surfboard is bound to be popular, as will the giant slide and the bike you can ride to make your own milkshake.
Live bands and singers will provide entertainment on stage until 11pm as walkers continue to trudge their way around the track in the early hours.
A free healthy breakfast will be available from 6am for those not succumbing to the warmth of their beds and then all participants will be on track for the final laps and countdown to the Closing Ceremony.
With nearly 300 walkers signed up and more than half of the target of $40,000 already raised, the Relay For Life is bound to be a huge success yet again.
Walkers can register on the day as individuals or they can join a team that has already registered.
The cost is $25, which includes a rugby shirt promoting the Relay.
