POOL players from right across Victoria and also from interstate headed for Wonthaggi last weekend for the annual Wonthaggi Cup, regarded as the biggest team pool event in Australia.
The 17th Wonthaggi Pool Cup attracted 40 teams with players enjoying over two days at the Wonthaggi Workmen’s Club.
Organisers Craig Carter and Michelle Cain were particularly thrilled that the competition attracted 20 of Australia’s top pool players.
“It’s a great weekend, the players love it and it’s a fantastic event for the town,” said Craig.
With a high-standard of competition in all grades and lots of local teams entered to take on the visitors, matches were full of interest and it wasn’t a surprise to see the top players clear the table in short order.
Anyone interested in joining the Wonthaggi Pool Club should come along to the club for the ladies competition on Monday nights at 7pm or Wednesday nights at 7pm for the men’s event.
