IT’S hard to believe that it’s been five years since Outtrim Moyarra Kongwak Cricket Club hosted its last clearing sale.
Little wonder there’s plenty of stock that has built up in the sheds of members and supporters since then that will all be sold on Sunday, May 7 at the Outtrim Rec from 11am.
Outside entries are welcome to boost the range even further.
Don Olden from Elders, Paul Wilson from SEJ and James Kyle from LKD Livestock are all donating their time to keep the sale rolling, and commissions will go to the cricket club to help fund a very important project.
“It will go towards our second ground,” club president Russ White said.
The Diggers had hoped to have a second ground to host C Grade matches up and running this season, but some planning issue at the South Gippsland Shire Council thwarted those plans.
“Fortunately, we’ve found a new site which has just come up. One of our farming families has come forward and we’re about to submit the plans to the shire.
“Hopefully it’s all straight forward from here. It’s on the Outtrim-Leongatha South Road about 4km away from the Outtrim Rec.
“It’s nice and flat and not much earth moving will be required.
“At this stage we’ll just have the ground, and maybe a shed later.”
The club’s third and fourth XI teams play on grounds across the region, depending on availability.
Items set for the sale include at least a couple of tractors, a cattle crush, calf feeds, water troughs, old horse drawn equipment and a new Amazon super spreader.
Round and square bales will also be sold.
