THE weather gods smiled on Inverloch with a sensational day for the 142nd Park Run last Saturday. Following claims at an after-run event recently that a kid could run the day, young Charli Burns was given the reins and did a fantastic job making sure the 95 finishers all received their times, and ensuring the volunteers all had a great day. Well done Charli.
Organisers finally got around to awarding the March Park Runner of the Month awards and congrats went to Ebony Knox completing 55 runs, 39 at Inverloch, and volunteering six times.
They also awarded Jacqui O’Connell her 25 Volunteer T-Shirt for volunteering 25 times. Jacqui has run 119 times, so has volunteered once every 5 runs; a great effort.
Did you know Park Run isn’t just for runners? They welcome walkers, people with prams and even people with a dog on a short leash. So come out to Inverloch and see what it’s all about – just register online at parkrun.com.au first and bring your barcode, it’s all free.

Personal bests
Amongst this week’s stunning 18 PBs was Cathy McKight. Cathy shaved 31 seconds off her time on the day before her birthday. Happy Birthday Cathy! It was only last month that she registered a PB for the first time in almost two years of running when she dropped to 26:38 but the time of 26:07 this week, at a grade rate of 72.24 per cent was a real achievement.

Volunteering
This week’s parkrun was only possible due to the following volunteer super heroes; Charli Burns, Pam Dalgleish, Wayne Davey, Amy Dynes, Kirby Ireland, Ina Kelly, Donna Lancaster, Tony O’Connell, and Rick Whitehouse.

Glenn Sullivan (VM50-54) of Wonthaggi Road Runners was first over the line in 19:15 followed by Dave Seeds in 19:18. David Moloney was third over the line in 20:15.
