THE Leongatha Basketball Association recently held its presentation night to celebrate the Lightning representative teams’ successful season.
Among the presentations was the inaugural ‘Kelly Wilson Most Promising Junior Award’ to recognise Kelly’s amazing career so far which started in Leongatha.
Her father Bob, on behalf of Kelly, presented the award to Lily Hume, an under 14 representative player who was one of four outstanding candidates also including Belle Grabham-Andrews (U16 Girls), Haidyn Kewming (U16 Boys) and Tom Burt (U14 Boys).
All four were invited to train with Dandenong Rangers coaches and former Opals captain Trish Fallon.
“We would like to thank the Dandenong Rangers and Basketball Victoria Country for their continued help and support for basketball in our region,” LBA president Dan Monaghan said.
Kelly and her sister Andrea play in the WNBL with Townsville and Bendigo Spirit respectively.
“They started their pathway at Leongatha and we are proud of them both,” Dan said.
“We look forward to recognising their achievements in the future.”
