AUSTRALIA Post has changed the cut-off times for same-day mail processing at five post boxes in Bass Coast.
In the Wonthaggi area, two street posting boxes (SPBs) have had their deadlines for posting mail changed from 3 or 3.30pm to 1pm and three post boxes have had their times extended from 10am to 1pm.
Australia Post sticky taped a notice to the post box on the corner of Graham Street and McBride Avenue, Wonthaggi, to notify residents.
“With the ongoing decline in letter volumes, we’re looking for ways to ensure our posties continue to play a relevant role in your community,” the notice read.
It said from Monday, June 19, the clearance time would be changed to 1pm.
An Australia Post spokesperson said the company is optimising the network by having posties clear some of the SPBs in regional areas.
“The consistent clearance time will also make it easier for residents to manage their postings,” the spokesperson said.
“There will be no change to the clearance time of post boxes located outside post offices. These will continue to be cleared at 3pm.”
The changes to the cut off times mean posties can collect the mail on their way back to base.
