We are writing to thank you for your coverage in supporting our ‘Snuggle up for Scleroderma’ day held on Sunday, June 25. The coverage you were able to give us, over a period of three weeks was fantastic. We appreciate your assistance in getting the message to the wider public.
The auctioneers from SEJ estimated about 150+ people attended at the Koonwarra Hall, most to support, some with Scleroderma and some like Ann-Maree who lost her mother Corry Schelling to the illness, and Corrie, who lost her husband Trevor to Scleroderma.
Our hard working team of helpers made the day a great success. The live and silent auctions, along with donations and raffles, helped us raise just over $15,250 on the day.
Our online donations added up to $6993, so our grand total of $22,243 is an outstanding achievement.
Scleroderma Australia is thrilled with the amount we have collected. They will put the funds towards research. Currently there is no cure for this debilitating illness.
We are in the process of organising a Gippsland Support Group. There are no current support groups east of Melbourne so we will have to cover the whole Gippsland area. Thanks to your extensive coverage, we have been able to get our information to the public, and have been contacted by others who are suffering with the illness but were unable to attend on the day.
Thank you again, Rae Stallard, Foster (on behalf of Corrie Hemming and Ann-Maree Heppell).
