ST JOSEPH’S Primary School Wonthaggi student Baia Pugh has been selected in the School Sport Victoria Cross Country team to compete in the School Sport Australia Championship to be held in Hobart from August 11 to 14.
Baia’s selection was based on placings at the All Schools event.
Many past School Sport Victoria team members have gone onto compete at national and international competitions including Olympic Games, World Championships and Commonwealth Games.
Baia’s mum Hayley said her daughter is self-motivated, even asking for a trainer to make sure she’s perfectly prepared.
“She has a massive determination. We live next door to the Dudley campus of the high school and she spent most of the school holidays running around there to train!”
Baia is a sports nut and loves basketball, netball and little aths.
She’s also picked up a sponsor along the way, iDIG Developments, who’ll help her get to Tasmania.
