I am not sure if Korumburra residents are aware that the South Gippsland Shire Council has presented three options for the new ‘Community Hub’.
The Community Hub consists of a new library, Milpara House and others which have not been disclosed/decided.
Option 1 – using the kindergarten building at the top of Victoria Street and acquiring a business and a home at the rear of the business.
Option 2 – using the Birralee building and acquiring three homes at 26-24 and 22 Victoria Street.
Option 3 – purchasing VicTrack land at the railway which goes from the Men’s Shed building up to the open large roofline of the existing shed building.
A small article was in last week’s Sentinel-Times but not much information was given from the council article.
You can go online and look but not everyone has a computer.
Options 1 and 2 are using council disused properties and will affect a business and four family homes.
Option 3 is an area that needs to be purchased but no homes would be affected.
Council is asking for community input to their options. I personally see option 3 at the railway as the best option, but then I am bias as my home is at 22 Victoria Street and is one of the homes to be acquired if option two goes ahead.
The council is holding a “drop in” session for the public on Thursday, November 9, 2pm to 9pm at the old Korumburra Shire offices in Commercial Street.
I am asking the Korumburra residents to look at these options and to give their opinion to council. Thank you.
June Ramsay, Korumburra.

Option 3 is the best place to build the Community Hub as to use option 2 would take away from Korumburra three beautiful old homes that cannot be replaced. The owners have put
a lot of love and care into these homes and it is wrong to deprive them of being allowed to stay
where they are and having to find another place to live.
