THE Wonthaggi Show and Shine and Swap Meet is back again this Australia Day weekend, with the popular event locked in for Sunday, January 28.
The major fundraiser for the Wonthaggi Power Football Netball Club is held at the Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve, and features Custom Cars, Hot Rods, Pick-ups, Motorbikes and Off-road Vehicles, with more than 10 prize categories.
Peter Tack from Kongwak is again bringing his army tank but this year he has its original transportation truck which has been restored to its full glory.
This year is the fifth edition of the event and is sure to be a fun day out for the whole family with a jumping castle for the kids, barbecue and canteen on site, and new additions of Mr Whippy and donut vans.
Gates open at 6am for stallholders and exhibitors and competition cars must be entered before 9.30am. A seller site is available for $10 pre-booked or $15 on the day, while exhibitor vehicles and driver’s entry is $10.
Breakfast and lunch will be available and winners will be announced at 12.30pm.
Public entry is $5 from 8am and children under 15 are free. There will also be a raffle for a brand new Toyota Yaris tkt available at the gate.
The Sunset Cruise will also be making a return on the Saturday night before the event (January 27). Cars will head out of Wonthaggi and through Inverloch and Cape Paterson along the coast road before ending back at the club rooms for a meal.
