THE design for the new Wonthaggi Secondary College campus has been released on the Victorian School Building Authorities Facebook page.
The new campus will be purpose-built for adolescent and adult learning and facilitate strong connections to the local community.
In October 2017, the Victorian Government made a commitment of $31 million to deliver this project.
The school also received $80,000 in planned maintenance funding to raise the condition of existing buildings at the McBride Street campus.
Clarke Hopkins Clarke has been appointed the architect for this project.
The design includes a two-storey Administration and Learning Building and Games Hall, linked by landscaped outdoor social and recreation areas.
The Administration and Learning Building will include general learning areas, as well as administration facilities, library resources area and specialist facilities for Visual Arts, Graphics, Materials Technology and Science.
There are also plans for a wetland environment, sports field and playing courts to create a strong culture of health, wellbeing and inclusivity.
Despite some confusion on the Facebook post, the new school will in fact have wood work and metal work facilities.
Two additional indoor courts are also being built for the school and local community to share.
This will provide the whole community with high quality sports facilities in the Wonthaggi Secondary College Games Hall.
It will also include specialist areas for Performing Arts, Food Technology and a canteen.
