LOCAL football and Gippsland Power stars Matt McGannon, Sam Flanders, Xavier Duursma and Kyle Reid have all been selected for the final Vic Country squad for the 2018 NAB AFL under 18 National Championships.
All four boys have been playing stellar football for the Power who sit second on the TAC Cup ladder after seven rounds.
Duursma, captain of Gippsland Power, has been a star through the midfield using his lighting pace and great skills to his advantage.
Fish Creek boys Sam Flanders and Matt McGannon have also been key figures for the Power, Flanders being a livewire up forward booting 16 goals so far this season including back to back bags of four in recent weeks.
McGannon is another midfield talent with sublime skills by hand and foot and complements captain Duursma well.
Leongatha’s Kyle Reid has been a rock in defence, with the ability to play both lockdown defender or the running link off half back.
The boys went in to camp with the squad at the weekend. Vic Country’s first match is against the Allies at Spotless Stadium on Saturday, June 9.
