CELEBRATE your Mother’s Day in a great way with an early morning walk among friends, raising money for a great cause that’s dear to all, breast cancer research.
The annual Mother’s Day Classic is entering its fifth year in Wonthaggi and has gone from strength to strength in such a short time.
The day is so much more than just raising money, in fact for those that might have lost their mum, it can provide more purpose to an otherwise difficult day.
The 5km walk (or run) around the Wonthaggi Rail Trail starts and finishes at the old railway station.
“We were delighted with the support we received last year, and it was a lot easier to come along without the torrential rain we’ve had for the past couple of years,” said event organiser Caroline Donohue.
“This is our sixth year, and it’s been fairly low key up until last year’s event and the committee is always looking to ramp it up a bit year by year.”
At this stage the weather looks fine for the day with a maximum of 17 degrees and a slim chance of rain.
Registrations are still being taken online at www.mothersday-classic.com.au or you can register on the day at 8am.
A warm up session will be held prior to the event by Fiona Passarin, so get along nice and early in your best pink attire to help raise money for breast cancer research.
