RIVERBANK Stockfeeds is a family business that prides itself on its firsthand knowledge across the stockfeed supply chain.
Managing director Peter Bozzo says Riverbank is so confident in the quality of the stockfeed it produces, it uses it in its own rural enterprises.
In fact, the entire business concept came about after the Bozzo family could not source feed at the quality required for their poultry business in the early 1990s.
It’s truly a family business, as Bozzo’s two sisters — Teresa Bozzo and Claudia Miller — are both directors of the company.
His father Mario oversees the agricultural interests the family own, including a poultry operation at Bridgewater, a 700-head steer fattening property near Sale, and a 14,000-acre sheep and cattle property at Tocumwal that also grows a small portion of grain used in the stockfeed business. As part of an expansion into the dairy industry, the business bought the South Gippsland Stockfeeds plant at Leongatha in 2008.
“Our modus operandi is not just to sell feed for the sake of generating a transaction; I want to make sure the feed converts to whatever outcome our client wants,” Bozzo says.
Leongatha dairy farmer Maree Deenen and her dad specialise in show heifers, so growing out the calves is really important.
Switching to Riverbank Stockfeeds’ Cow Care Calf Starter and Grower over five years ago, the pair now get good growth rates.
“We always get lots of remarks at International Dairy Week, about how big our heifers are,” Maree said.
