THREE Wonthaggi Little Athletes competed in the State Little Athletics Cross Country Championships at the weekend, and one of them, Baia Pugh, came home with a gold medal.
The event was held at Myrniong, near Bacchus Marsh on Saturday in beautiful surroundings and perfect winter weather.
Baia started strongly in the Under 11 girls 2000m event.
Although some competitors tried to break her early in the race, no-one could match Baia’s combination of speed and endurance and she won the title – easily beating second place by 16 seconds.
Beau Ransom ran well and produced a strong finish to place 28th in the boys U/11 2000m race.
Sister Mollie Ransom started strongly in the U/13 girls 3km race and kept her pace up to hold on to also finish in 28th place.
Congratulations to these three young athletes.
