WONTHAGGI’S Moo DoH has been named Father of the Year by the YMCA Bass Coast Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
He is an extraordinary example of a father figure, said YMCA community development officer Fiona Passarin.
She said they received many responses from families nominating a dad or father figure for the annual award, and selecting a winner hadn’t been easy.
Moo DoH’s daughter, Kyi Kyi, who is attending Wonthaggi North Primary School in Year 6, nominated her dad because he is always there for her and the family.
Moo DoH was also presented with a family pass to the third annual YMCA Father’s Day Fun Run to be held on Father’s Day, Sunday, September 2.
Fiona said the YMCA Community Father of the Year award recognised a local dad or father figure who was like a superhero to the children in their life.
“The YMCA Community Father of the Year award is all about celebrating the important role of fathers in our community,” she said.
“Moo DoH is a wonderful example of a local superhero and a deserving winner.”
Fiona added that Father’s Day is a great occasion to slow down and spend time together as a family.
“Use the day as an opportunity to head to the park, kick the footy, or walk or run in the YMCA Father’s Day Fun Run,” she said.
The YMCA founded Father’s Day in the United States in 1910 and the Y remains dedicated to enabling people to be healthier, happier and connected to their community.
