FOLLOWING Saputo’s takeover of dairy processor Murray Goulburn, the company has confirmed it’s looking to sell the network of 25 MG Trading stores in Victoria, including stores at Foster, Leongatha and Korumburra.
A spokesperson for Saputo Dairy Australia said last week there was a sale process underway to find a buyer for the stores as the company had confirmed that rural retail was “not an area of expertise”.
“If an appropriate offer was made from a party who had the ongoing interests of the people and the customers of MG Trading as a priority, we would consider that offer,” the spokesperson said.
Changes could also be in store for Devondale branded products, formerly produced by Murray Goulburn, though what those changes will look like remains unclear, with the spokesperson saying Saputo was “committed to further developing the Devondale brand as part of its acquisition of Murray Goulburn’s activities”.
