Re: No Pipi collection, but gas plant for Western Port
As reported on page 60 of the October 23 edition of the Sentinel Times, the Victoria Pipi Fishery Management Plan has been released.
That Plan contains, on page 18, advice that commercial Pipi harvesting will not be allowed in Western Port.
Meanwhile, the State Government is giving consideration to an AGL proposal for a commercial gas plant at Crib Point in Western Port.
A checking of the parliamentary Hansard and the comments of Government ministers on the AGL gas plant proposal reveals the double standard of a government that bans commercial Pipi harvesting in Western Port while appearing to give favourable consideration to a commercial proposal by AGL for a gas plant.
