WOORAYL golfer Elsie McBride is ‘walking on air’ after acing the 122 metre par 3 17th at her home club on Wednesday, September 26. Elsie was using a rescue club and as she was playing in a six there were plenty of cheers when the ball was found to be in the hole. Elsie has been playing golf for over 40 years and this is her first hole in one. She was reported to be “absolutely thrilled” with this lifelong achievement. In recognition of her amazing feat her ball will be mounted for posterity, she will be presented with a gold putter at the end of year club presentation evening and her name will be added to the hole in one honour board at the club.
The last hole in one by a Woorayl lady was in March 2014 when, in a curious alignment of events, Dianne O’Connor also holed out on the 17th, and also on 26th day of the month.
Everyone at the club has congratulated Elsie on her achievement, and hopes to see her repeat it in the not too distant future.
