Commander Glenn Weir is the new top cop in Eastern Region.

POLICE Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton made several key appointments last week including naming Commander Glenn Weir as the Assistant Commissioner, Eastern Region
He will take up the position being vacated by DC Nugent.
Assistant Commissioner Rick Nugent has been appointed Deputy Commissioner, Capability following a highly competitive recruitment process.
His promotion is effective immediately. DC Nugent, who has worked in frontline and leadership roles across Victoria Police for more than 30 years, fills the vacancy left by former Deputy Commissioner Andrew Crisp who left in August to become Victoria’s Emergency Management Commissioner.
Superintendent Michael Grainger has been promoted to Assistant Commissioner, State Emergencies and Support Command.
Mr Ashton said: “I am delighted to be making these very important appointments which will further strengthen the leadership team here at Victoria Police. Rick Nugent is an exceptional police officer and leader, absolutely committed to the safety of the community we serve and I congratulate him on his appointment.
“He brings a wealth of knowledge to Executive Command and will continue to be an excellent ambassador for Victoria Police and within the Victorian community.”
He was also delighted with the appointment of Commander Weir.
“Glenn Weir is a proven, effective, and highly experienced senior leader, who has held a range of diverse frontline, support and organisational development roles.
“Glenn’s authentic leadership style will be of great value as he assumes his new role leading our policing operations in the Eastern Region of Victoria.”
Commander Glenn Weir said: “I am honoured by this appointment and very much look forward to the opportunity to work in the Eastern Region again. We have many very capable and committed people in the region and I will be focused on doing my best to support them in their important work, working with the community to prevent crime, reduce harm and hold offenders to account.”
There were several other senior appointments made at the same time.
