KORUMBURRA Secondary College student, Alex Blackmore, saw an opportunity in athletics field events and he’s gone for it.
The 15 year old has taken his strong performances at the local school sports, through to District and Regional athletics competitions and won his way through to the State Titles last week.
At the Victorian State Championships, on Monday, October 22 at Lakeside Stadium in Melbourne he competed in Javelin, Discus and Shot Put.
The event was held with competitors travelling from all across the State to compete and it’s a credit to Alex that he won the Bronze Medal for Javelin, as well as placing fourth in the Shot Put and fifth in the Discus; a great effort.
In fact, he shown such promise that he has now been invited by Sports Travel Australia to attend their Track and Field event held in Canada, for 10 days in 2019, where he will be trained by the world’s best coaches and training among elite athletes.
