SIX vital wickets from Korumburra’s Brad Arnold has given his team an important win against Phillip Island at Korumburra in A Grade Division 1.
Arnold bowled a marathon 26 overs in which he took the first wicket, and the last which secured the thrilling two-run victory.
In between, he took the crucial scalp of Island skipper Eli Richards for a duck.
The Islanders were chasing 171 and despite a few batters getting starts, the Cobras were always in it.
A couple of late wickets to Scott Checkley and the final one to Arnold sealed the win.
After an early struggle, Wonthaggi Club cruised to a win against rivals Inverloch to maintain a tight grip on top spot.
Ryan Thomas led the way with 72.
At 3/37, Inverloch total of 125 appeared to be a long way away, but Thomas combined with Ross Lovett for a big partnership that eased the nerves.
Stumps were pulled after just 43 overs with Club sitting pretty on 4/131.
The run feast at Outtrim continued as Glen Alvie put up a decent chase of OMK’s monstrous 9/476.
Some very lusty hitting from Dan Diwell didn’t really give the visitors a sniff but it was fun to watch.
He hit 10 fours and eights sixes in his 107 after Dimithri Perera made a quick 87.
Glen Alvie was all out for 331 in 67 overs, so they weren’t mucking around.
Nerrena has continued its winning ways with an easy win against Kilcunda-Bass.
Despite losing Dave Baldi early, Luke Giliam and the very much in-form Paul Mathseon put on a 124-run stand that killed the contest.
Matheson scored 76 and Giliam 63 and the team went on to 4/206, 40 runs clear
of the total before stumps were pulled nice and early.
