GEAR heads get ready as the South Coast Show and Shine returns to rev up the Toora Recreation Reserve this Sunday, February 24.
Now in its fourth year, the popular event features a huge array of cars, trucks, bikes and farm machinery on display, as well as a whole host of other entertainment including live music, army tank demonstrations, helicopter rides and free kids’ activities.
And if all that wasn’t enough incentive to get your friends and family together for a great day out, this year’s event will also be supporting a very worthy cause, with a percentage of ticket sales going to the Eastern Health Foundation’s cancer research.
Heading up the team of volunteers running the not-for-profit event is Toora local Joe Allan, who encouraged the community to get down to the reserve on Sunday to experience the atmosphere of a Show and Shine that “offers more than any other going around”.
“We’re all about keeping the event really open and diverse,” Joe said.
“So just about anything that’s got a motor in it will be there. We’ve got 42 prize categories and we’re hoping for lots of entrants this year.
“The more, the merrier, especially when it’s supporting such a good cause.
“Eastern Health do a really good job trying to fight a disease nearly everyone’s affected by in one way or another.”
