CARLTON and United Breweries has partnered with ten local pubs this week to let the beer taps run for the Gippsland communities who have done it tough over the past couple of weeks with the recent fires.
A free pint of VB will be available to anybody who has been affected by the fires, helped in the fight against them, or any volunteers or community members that have gone over-and-above to serve during this period.
Each venue will put on a ‘Community Keg’, just let the bartender know that you, or somebody you know, deserves a pint and they’ll oblige.
The pints will be served at each venue until the keg runs out. One per deserving customer, honesty system.
Local Business Development Executive, Linda Cowling – who lives in Metung – has been pleased to work with the venues to bring the initiative to life.
“Pubs are a great meeting place after events like this to check on neighbours and friends because the affect of fires can often run beyond land and property.
“And the venues have all been fantastic to work with and keen to find a way to thank all the people who have really come together and pitched in during this time,” she said.
The Community Kegs are available at the Bottom Pub Bunyip, Buchan Caves Hotel, Churchill Hotel, Dargo Hotel, Drouin Family Hotel, Garfield Hotel, Glengarry Hotel, Longwarry Hotel, Mirboo North Hotel, and The Yallourn North Hotel.
