ON the weekend of May 25-26, Wonthaggi Life Saving Club along with other Victorian Surf Life Saving Clubs from around the state headed to Lorne Surf Life Saving Club to compete in the Life Saving Victoria’s Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) competition.
Although sea conditions were good for the competition, the weather was bitterly cold with rain and then the occasional splash of sunshine just to tease us.
The club missed the last IRB Carnival due to being busy rescuing equipment and shoring up the club following the devastating flooding of the Cape Paterson Bay Beach area only two days before.
The Women’s Team won the women’s team event and placed fifth in the Women’s Mass and also the men’s team placing second in their respective event.
“It was great to see the club members able to be back on the beach enjoying what they do following all the devastation and disaster they and the club have faced in the last few weeks,” said club president Mark Scott.
