Is this idea something that the tourist rail could achieve for South Gippsland?
That is Horsham City Council working with a private group trying to return a train.
John McCombe had suggested we could use redundant trains from the regional rail upgrades for our South Gippsland line.
Also, Public Transport Victoria (PTV) have indicated the government has allocated $7m to design the extension of the line from Cranbourne to Clyde.
That just leaves 76km to get back to Leongatha. If we get all the sand trucks off the road by using a freight service from Lang Lang to the city then the line is almost back to Nyora.
That would allow the tourist trains and passenger trains back to Leongatha. That seems something worth discussing. Can our Council look to the future beyond spending our funds in the kitty?
Lindsay Love, Leongatha.
Only 76km back to Leongatha
