THE new three-court stadium at McKenzie Street high school presents a new community dynamic to the Wonthaggi Amateur Basketball Association.
Coming from the single court at Wonthaggi North Primary school, president Cathy Garnham there’s a new energy on and off the court.
“Now that we have three courts, we can train with up to six groups at once,” Cathy said.
“This is great for the players to learn off the older kids and for the parents who can catch up whilst watching.
“Spectators can grab a coffee or a snack from the canteen. It’s nice to have somewhere to watch and even play if there’s a spare court,” she said.
With the new court drawing big numbers for the first season of 2020, Cathy said it’s not too late to sign up for the first season.
“Numbers have exploded, which we were expecting but it’s great they came through,” Cathy said.
“Sign ups were last week, but we may be able to fit a few more in,” she said.

The 2020 season commences the week of February 24.
