THE culmination of 14 home and away games, plus semi-finals and preliminary finals, was played out on March 3 on the Korumburra greens in the three grand finals for the South Gippsland Bowls Division Midweek Pennant finals.
Good but chilly weather saw the many spectators treated to some great matches.
In Division 1, the result was in doubt until the last end of the last rink with last season’s winners Leongatha getting up to defeat a valiant Inverloch 1 side.
Division 2 saw Phillip Island 2 finishing as the better side on the day over a good effort by the Toora side who finished on top of the ladder after the home and away games.
A great match by the small Port Welshpool club saw them come out as winners of Division 3 over the Inverloch side.
Many thanks to Korumburra for all their hard work, delicious scones and well-presented lunches.
Also, sincere thanks go to the SGBD board, Ladies Match Committee, umpires and scoreboard attendants who made the season’s pennant season so much easier, especially over the finals series.
Leongatha take it home
