THE Diamond Princess, the Ruby Princess… it seems eons ago that cruise ships were plagued by coronavirus controversy.

In fact, the cruise ship industry is up and going again, announcing that the luxury, boutique Viking Star of 930 passengers has just opened its 2021-22 World Cruise of up to 136 days visiting 27 countries and 56 ports including Phillip Island and Eden as new destinations.

It sets sail on December 24, 2021 from Fort Lauderdale, passing through the Panama Canal before cruising to Hawaii and New Zealand on route to Australia, Asia and ultimately London.

Seeing the Little Penguins waddle up the beach on Phillip Island is listed as a highlight.

Much of the luxury accommodation is already sold out but you could still snap up a Penthouse Verandah suite for AU$101,995, with prices starting at $76,000 but be quick, you don’t want to miss out!

Master of the understatement, Viking line chairman Torstein Hagen said: “This has been an unusual year for all travellers, but we remain focused on the future and are pleased to offer our guests a new destination-focused World Cruise that allows for extensive exploration in 2021-2022.”
