SAPUTO Dairy Australia has partnered with the Leongatha Business Association to deliver a much-needed boost to the local economy, while also expressing thanks to employees at its Yarragon Road milk factory.
The new joint initiative will see Saputo inject over $18,000 into Leongatha businesses, via gift cards distributed to 365 Saputo staff.
The $50 gift cards are to be used exclusively with 2020/21 Leongatha Business Association (LBA) members.
It’s the first in a series of new ‘Love Local, Love Leongatha’ campaigns planned by the LBA with the aim of encouraging people to support local businesses during the COVID-19 crisis and beyond.
LBA president Anthony Walls said the gift cards would make a big difference to businesses that are currently struggling.
“We’re very fortunate to have the likes of Saputo supporting our local businesses, and also to have the support of the wider farming community – whether it’s through recessions, the global financial crisis… we rely so much on farmers and we’ve always been a strong area because of that support,” he said.
Saputo’s eastern region operations manager Belinda Pownall said Saputo’s employees are its most valued asset and the gift cards were “a token of appreciations for their loyalty, hard work and passion”.
“We are proud of our employees’ dedication and wanted to show our gratitude in a way that also supports local businesses to recover,” Belinda said.
“We thank the Leongatha Business Association for helping us to celebrate our employees in a way that also gives back to other local businesses.”
During the pandemic, Saputo has remained committed to providing a safe environment for employees while they continue to produce the essential dairy products that families, consumers, customers and communities rely on, Belinda said.
The company has previously supported the Leongatha Football-Netball Club, through its 2018 Legacy program, and is pleased to build on its commitment to the local community during this challenging time, she said.
It’s not too late for businesses to join the LBA at the discounted rate of $99 and become part of the gift card program and all future promotions.
