BERRY Creek artist Melanie Caple has turned drab into fab in the main street of Leongatha, with a beautiful wall mural awaiting the finishing touches to be complete.

The owner of Forage and Grind café on Bair Street commissioned Melanie to create one of her gorgeous murals on the Lyon Street side of the shop.

Melanie said she was thrilled to be working on the coastal banksia-themed mural for the enjoyment of the whole community.

“Most of my work is in Melbourne so it’s been really nice to do a mural in Leongatha,” Melanie said.

Melanie said this was her second mural commissioned during lockdown and that demand for her artwork was high as people searched for a creative outlet.

“The nature of my work means I’m able to work [in isolation],” she said.

“People are sitting at home wanting stimulation and there does seem to be a demand for creativity and art as a whole at the moment.”
