I thought that the article (Large cat seen at Venus Bay, Sentinel-Times, September 21) was particularly interesting.
About five years ago my wife and I were walking along the Great Southern Rail Trail near Koonwarra and were directed by signs onto the nearby road due to upgrades.
However, further along the trail we could see a very large black cat basking in the sun.
We decided to stay on the trail for a closer look at the cat which, when it saw us approaching, very quickly disappeared into adjacent bushes.
Any other similar experiences by your readers?

I was ridiculed when I told of a very large black cat I saw in the early 2000’s whilst doing garbage collection at around 5.30am on the Pound Creek-Koonwarra road they said it was a big feral cat, it was far too big for a Feral cat as it crouched into the very white freshly made Rural Driveway it was only about 3-4 meters from the cab of my truck and looked like it had something in it’s mouth, when I realized what it was I got out of there very quickly.
There have been quite a few sightings around that area over the years.
