A MACHETE-WIELDING man has taken off with cash after holding up the San Remo Post Office on Saturday morning, leaving staff shaken.

The unknown man entered the Marine Parade store at around 9.20am Saturday, September 5, producing the machete and demanding staff hand over cash.

Staff complied with the man’s request and watched him flee on foot, south on Wynne Road.

The man was described as 181cm tall, Caucasian, wearing black pants, a black hoodie, a black beanie and a black facemask.

He was last spotted at the intersection of Hazelwood Road.

A post on Facebook to the Phillip Island and Bass Coast Community Board page shared the news of the armed robbery, explaining the post office would be closed for the rest of the day.

“Both of us are safe,” it read.
