HURDLES, high jump mats and discuses are what the Leongatha Little Athletics has decided to upgrade with a $3000 grant from Coles.
The Little Athletics centre, based at the Leongatha Velodrome, was one of 158 sports clubs across Australia to share in the funding for equipment as part of the Coles Little Athletics Community Fund.
Leongatha Little Athletics president Ben Cruickshank was pleased they could upgrade the safety and quality of the equipment used by the 145 kids who take part each weekend during the season.
“The grant will have a huge impact on our centre as we haven’t replaced or updated our equipment in many years,” Ben said.
“The new mat will lift the atmosphere of our competitions and allow us to maintain a high standard of club competition for our growing membership.”
He said the club was hopeful to start weekend competitions next month, with the season running until March.
