IT was an epic day of racing on Sunday, December 13, as riders and spectators flocked to the Wonthaggi Motocross Track for the AMX MXOpen.

After eight months without competition, riders and spectators were as eager as ever to attend the event.

And Wonthaggi put on a beautiful day for it off West Area Road.

It was all thanks to AMX, the Dandenong Motocross Club and other leading industry partners and local businesses, including Wonthaggi Toyota, which saw the event got off the ground just a few weeks out from Christmas.

For many riders and supporters, they couldn’t have asked for a better gift!

One supporter summed it up well on Facebook: “Thanks Yarrive and the whole team for organising and putting on such a professional and well-run event and letting us do one race for the whole year. Look forward to the next one.”

Michael Bell and Ben Staff were among those checking out the action at the MXOpen in Wonthaggi.

Brett Metcalfe, sponsored by the Penrite Honda Racing Team, took out the A Grade Pro Open 450cc four-stroke.

Kyle Webster, sponsored by the Penrite Honda Racing Team, took out the Wonthaggi Toyota A Grade Pro Lite 250cc four-stroke.
