A 16-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car today, Monday, January 11, in Inverloch.
The boy, who was riding east on Toorak Road, sustained lower leg injuries after being struck by a car at around 12 noon.
A 45-year-old driver is assisting police with enquiries.
It was an unfortunate accident, with visibility blocked on both side by a parked car. Very glad the driver was driving under the speed limit and our son was wearing his helmet!
We are very grateful that his injuries were limited to a broken thumb and soft tissue injuries and no broken lower limbs as originally thought. A very good outcome considering the event!
We wish to thank the driver of the car for stopping and rendering assistance, the swift attendance of the police, the outstanding care provided by the paramedics and our friends’ help and support throughout the ordeal. Thank you also to the kind people who stepped out of their house to provide first aid.
