Weekend Breakfast on the ABC aired an interview with Russell Broadbent on Saturday morning, February 27, in which he said Australian men, “punch above their weight in terms of domestic violence”.

I was shocked that our federal representative would use a boxing euphemism in reference to domestic violence on a nationally broadcast program.

His comment is offensive and inappropriate and displays a lack of understanding of how his choice of words serve to minimise and diminish the lived experience of the victims of domestic violence.

I have emailed Mr Broadbent, but as yet have received no response.

Is this the standard of representation the voters of should Monash accept?
