IT’S been a patchy start to 2021 for Stringz Costero but organisers are delighted to have found a new practice home at the Jumbunna Hall.

And they’re preparing to perform at the Baptist Church in Wonthaggi on Sunday, May 16 at 3pm.

The program is somewhat varied and includes pieces from early classical and baroque eras, as well as some contemporary music from Asia and Ireland.

Highlights will be Geminiani’s Concert Grosso in E minor and Mozart’s Divertimento in F.

Percussionist Many Breeze will be joining the group for Allegri’s festival music, ‘Ottavo Ballo detto L’lride’. An Irish folk tune and Dayna Roberts will feature on solo violin to play the beautiful Romance from Shostakovich’s Gadfly.

“After the challenges of the last 18 months, it will be wonderful to be able to share our music with the community once again, and we are looking forward to meeting up with friends, old and new,” organisers said.

“Stringz Costero is a community organisation and, as such, we provide opportunity for strings players to come together, play and perform. At present, we would be interested to hear from violin and viola players. We are currently meeting on Wednesday at 7.30pm at the Jumbunna Hall.”
