Wonthaggi Life Saving Club president Mark Scott offers a few inspiring words to the team.

THE Wonthaggi Life Saving Club had several competitors in the Life Saving Victoria Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) Carnival at Mordialloc.

It was the first carnival of the season and the team came away with several first places, including in the Women’s Rescue Open, Women’s Teams Open, Women’s Mass Under 23, Women’s Rescue Under 23, and Women’s Teams Under 23.

They also took out third place in the Women’s Mass Open.

“Our competitors have served the community over the summer as patrolling members at the Cape Paterson Bay Beach and now they are refining their skills in the boat over the winter in the lead up to the Australian Surf Life Saving IRB Championships to be held in Fingal Bay, NSW in July,” a spokesperson for the club said.

“In the meantime, they have several Victorian Carnivals with the next one being at Ocean Grove on May 23.”
