ONE of the most popular figures in the South Gippsland Umpires Association is moving on.

Paul Bauer is one of the most accomplished goal umpires in SGUA history and served as the goal umpires’ advisor since 2015.

Last Saturday, Bauer was supposed to umpire his final match with the SGUA.

But the cancelled round meant he couldn’t wave the flags one more time before moving to Bendigo.

Bauer’s 157 games in between the sticks have included seven senior grand finals. He was awarded the Alf Willder Memorial Trophy for best performed goal umpire six times.

He spent many years on the committee, including a term as vice-president.
