Each year on July 1 we acknowledge Reserve Forces Day and honour all those who have served our nation in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Reserves.
These brave men and women have served in the Navy, Army and Air Force alongside our full-time ADF members in wars, conflicts, peacekeeping operations, national disasters and emergencies throughout our history.
Our Reservists have been at the forefront of helping our country for the last 18 months, whether it’s assisting our communities through bushfires, the coronavirus and more recently the floods.
Their service has often kept them away from their families for long periods of time and has meant they have had to put their lives and careers on hold for our country.
This Reserve Forces Day, I would like to thank all those who have served in our Reserves, along with their families and employers who support them.
Your selfless service during our nation’s time of need has provided invaluable support to the community.
On behalf of a grateful nation, thank you for your service.
Darren Chester, Member for Gippsland.
