MORE than $53,000 has been raised for a Meeniyan family after the mother was diagnosed with cancer after feeling unwell on her wedding day.
Kara and Tom Davison cancelled their wedding during the COVID-19 restrictions and rescheduled to Saturday, July 3, 2021.
Unfortunately, Kara was not feeling well by the afternoon of her wedding and was unable to attend the reception.
After undergoing several tests and scans, Kara Davison found out she had a hole in her bowel which required emergency surgery, leaving her with a stoma bag and bowel cancer.
After a CT scan, it was also confirmed she had cancer in her lungs and liver.
The news shocked the entire family, as Kara has no previous history of cancer in her family.
Kara and Tom Davison are parents to four little girls, two-year-old twins Zariella and Alaska, four-year-old Zorana and six-year-old Aymeline.
Kara’s specialists are currently putting together a treatment plan to manage her cancer.
Tom is taking six months off work to care for his family, which will bring added financial hardship on top of the upcoming medical bills.
Tamara Symington and a group of mothers at Meeniyan Primary School are rallying much-needed funds to support the Davison family.
“This family is incredibly humble and would never in a million years ask for help; they are loved by so many,” Tamara said. For further enquiries or donations, contact Tamara Symington on 0497 647 320 or email
