MEET Hayley Young, the 18-year-old with a passion for helping people and being a valued member of her community.

Ms Young recently travelled to Bendigo to represent Central and South Gippsland in the Victorian Agricultural Show state finals.

Hayley actively volunteers for the Meeniyan/Stony Creek CFA, being around the community since she was a child.

In 2020, Ms Young was nominated by her CFA brigade for the Youth Citizen of the Year award, and to her surprise, she won.

Last year, Ms Young applied to compete in the Junior Show Ambassador program and said it was an amazing opportunity.

“I was like, it’s not an opportunity you get every day, so why not,” Ms Young said.

After regional finals – held on Zoom – Ms Young moved forward to state finals in Bendigo.

Despite not placing in the state finals, Ms Young is extremely proud of her accomplishments.

“It’s honestly one of the biggest achievements in my life so far. It’s unbelievable that I made it that far.”

Ms Young is a junior leader and health and safety coordinator for the Meeniyan/Stony Creek CFA.

She has also joined the Victorian Agricultural Show committee and is working with the Show Ambassador Committee to coordinate future events and engagement in the program.

What an inspiration!
