THE National Landcare Conference is a free online opportunity for all Australians to learn more about Landcare and how they can get involved in their local community to care for the environment.

Costa Georgiadis will bring the Landcare community together for the conference and the 2021 National Landcare Awards on Thursday, August 5 and Friday, August 6.

The conference will have over 60 guest speakers from across the country.

Landcare ambassador and conference MC, Costa Georgiadis, said Landcare had never been more important and relevant, “as we manage and plan for the future during uncertain times”.

All speakers will be livestreamed and recorded. There will be a diverse range of topics, including mental health and wellbeing, bushfire recovery and resilience, empowering rural women, meeting the challenges of climate change, and more.

Special guest speakers participating include former Deputy Prime Minister John Anderson who will deliver the keynote address, Indigenous activist and climate change campaigner Dhani Gilbert and ANU scientist and Academic Professor David Lindenmayer.

Victor Steffensen, Indigenous fire practitioner, will also lead a panel on integrating Indigenous perspectives for better land management, and the benefits cultural burn methods can bring for Landcare groups, landowners and farmers.
