Korumburra never stops amazing me as it continues to be defiant even during these challenging and changing times.
There are two new businesses getting ready to open their doors as soon as restrictions are lifted. What an endorsement this is for our town, whilst adding to the unique vibrant shopping experience that already exists.
All available retail space in our main shopping strip is now occupied, something that many other towns could only dream about in this pandemic.
The town is on the cusp of the biggest infrastructure investment possibly ever seen in Korumburra, with the soon to commence Korumburra Community Hub, upgrade to Little Commercial Street, upgrade to the railway precinct, followed by an upgrade of Commercial Street.
Once this is completed, it will give the new supermarket development a clear pathway to begin building on the current library site.
The Rail Trail between Leongatha and Nyora is well underway, providing a safe recreation space and a draw card for our area.
As an active community member involved in several community groups over many years, I’m well aware these projects have been in the making for a long time, following all the necessary processes and procedures required.
Seeing the beginning of this revitalisation of Korumburra coming to fruition has been a partnership between community, community groups, community leaders and the shire. It’s about working together, not working apart, where the best outcomes for our town are achieved, whilst taking into consideration all factors and concerns.
The process to get infrastructure projects to fruition is a very long journey but will definitely be worth it in the end.
Korumburra is a standout community with the collaboration of many people working to progress this town.
