REGIONAL pharmacies have been busy preparing to administer COVID-19 vaccines to local communities.
Three TerryWhite Chemmart stores in Inverloch, Korumburra, and Leongatha are a part of the rollout after receiving confirmation that pharmacists can administer vaccines in store.
“It’s going to be really good for the community,” said Ailu Liu, pharmacist at TerryWhite Chemmart.
“We placed our orders after we found out we could administer COVID-19 vaccines,” she said.
Pharmacies will only be allowed to give AstraZeneca vaccines at this stage until more stock is available – Moderna is expected to arrive in mid-September, but the information is still unclear.
Some of the pharmacies have received AstraZeneca stock already and are ready to begin vaccinations for regional communities.
“It’s really exciting that we can finally give COVID vaccines. It has been a big wait and there will be a big rush of people wanting to get vaccinated, but it’s really good,” said Zac, TerryWhite Chemmart pharmacist.
It is important for those wanting to be vaccinated with AstraZeneca to weigh up the potential benefits and risk of harm and be aware of the broader benefits of being vaccinated, as well as the benefits in preventing severe disease.
As some pharmacies have already received their vaccine order, it is recommended that interested people call stores to book – Terry White Chemmart will likely start administering vaccines in the coming weeks.
To book, contact TerryWhite Chemmart Korrumburra on 5655 1555, Leongatha on 5662 2183, or Inverloch on 5674 1652.
