Our local federal MP, Russell Broadbent, is spruiking the herd immunity line that “natural immunity offer exponentially more protection than vaccines” citing an American professor, Martin Kulldorff (SGST, September 7, 2021).
Prof Kulldorff has also opposed lockdowns, contact tracing and mask mandates during the pandemic.
Even the most cursory research on Wikipedia shows that the World Health Organisation and many other academic and public-health bodies say Kulldoorf’s views “lacked a sound scientific basis… could cause many unnecessary deaths and could result in recurrent epidemics”.
The lesson? There are dangerous people in academia, just as there are in federal parliament. There’s not much we can do about an American academic, but we know how to get rid of our local MP.
