A FLOOD watch has been issued for South Gippsland rivers.
Minor flooding is possible from Friday afternoon in the catchments of the flood watch area.
A complex low pressure system will track across Victoria during the remainder of Thursday. The system will move to the east overnight with a southeast low moving slowly over Bass Strait and Tasmania during Friday.
Catchments in the flood watch area are wet. In the 24 hours to 9am Thursday rainfall totals of 5-15 mm were recorded in Gippsland.
For Friday and Saturday, totals of 20-40 mm (isolated 50 mm) are forecast for the Latrobe and 5-15 mm for the rest of the Gippsland flood watch area.
Renewed river rises are expected in the Gippsland flood watch catchments from overnight Thursday into Friday.
Minor flooding is possible from Friday afternoon at some locations.
